September 2009 – BPM and Pete Jacobs donate money to charity
BPM in conjunction with Pete Jacobs are proud to support the Tribob Hoi An Children’s Swim Program.
The program was started in 2008 in Hoi An, Central Vietnam after statistics from the Ministry of Health indicated that 10 children drown every day making it the leading cause of injury related death among children over the age of one.
It is a simple program which gives children basic swimming and other water safety skills which could help save their lives. Over a six month period in 2008, 300 children between the ages of 11-15 were successfully taught to swim. This program has been very well received by the children, their parents, the schools and the wider community. The aim in 2009 is to teach 1000 children in Quang Nam Province in Vietnam how to swim.
We believe that this program ties in nicely with Pete Jacobs, one of triathlons greatest swimmers, so have donated a percentage of the earnings from the private swim sessions held with Pete during his visit to Singapore to this worthwhile cause.
